#3 Devlog: Start Production


Production Start

This week we started production on our game. This means we throw out all our prototypes and start out fresh. We divided the tasks and made a game design.  

Art:

The art department is fully engaged with designing the textures. Some designs have already been finished and a favorite iteration has been chosen. For example the lever we plan to use as a interactable in the game.

 

Our main player characters have also gotten their design phase but are not final yet. 

More assets are on the way and are fully in design phase. 

Dev:

The developers are mainly busy with recreating the mechanics used in the prototypes. But this time... CLEAN code. An example of this is the movement mechanic we used. In the prototype version the movement was hard to control inside the scripts. Walking against a wall for example was hardcoded and had no real physics. Now the movement has easy to control functions that can be called when necessary and use the unity physics as much as possible. A new controller input system has also been created which would allow users to have an easier time playing our game. 

Future:

More art assets will be created by next week and will start to fill up the unity scene. Most prototype mechanics will have been recreated and the developer's  focus will start to shift towards animation.
