#7 Devlog: Sprint2 Week2


Sprint 2 Week2

We have enjoyed a break but now development continuous in week 2. Steady progress is being made as we approach the  end of the last development sprint.  This week is mainly about adding the last new features.

General:

Gameplay wise not a lot has changed. No new level has been added because we mainly polished the other levels this week. A lot of player feedback has been added . This will make the game more enjoyable. We also tried to fill up the levels more to make it feel more alive. 

Art:
Assets:

Last week we added a new level but didn't really focus on filling up the old one .The levels are playable but are missing some kind of polish.    We made some new 3d assets to fix this problem. They are fully decorational but make the game more fun to play. Next week we will continue this by adding assets to fill up placeholders . The 2d floor is the most important one as it is the most noticeable.   We also added the art for the HUD system. 

Animation:

The dad's animation got finished . He is an important asset to make the game feel more alive. Last week we noticed the a static feeling when playing . He makes the game feel more dynamic but we are not completely there yet. Right now we are missing some non controllable assets the actually move or have animations . We plan to add some of these next week.

The main HUD got added last week . This week we expand upon that .Now when you die you wont just restart the level but get an overlay with some option on what to do, effectively giving you the option to ragequit . We got some feedback saying that it wasn't always clear who you are controlling. To fix this we made a portrait system , showing a portrait of the current controllable character  in the top left corner. 

Animation: 

Some new logic had to be made as the dad has to interact with the child a lot . An example of this is the dad moving left to right with the child connected to him . The dad swaps direction so the child should swap as well. Same thing goes for the throwing which is something the child does but the dad has to animate. 

Future:

Next week we add the last new features . We still plan to add an enemy but there may not be enough time . The main asset missing is the floor but other placeholders also have to be replaced. After that the polishing phase starts . Here we will fix all the remaining bugs and try to make the game as enjoyable as posable .
