#10 Devlog : End Development


End Development

The polishing phase has ended, marking the end of development . As much  as possible has been polished to improve the game to make sure it is the best it can be before ending this sprint.

General:

All placeholders are filled and are made fully operational. We had to scrap some ideas but most of them still made the cut. A lot of focus went into sound as we believe sound can improve the feeling of the game a lot. Bugfixing and playtesting has also been a highlight of this week to make sure the player has no game breaking experience .

Art:

Backpack:


An important issue we still had was the weird feeling around the united character. The kid kind of got glued to the dad . Our solution to this is the backpack. The backpacks as as a visualization to see if the 2 player characters are united into one or not . The kid that got glued still exists but it is not used as visualization anymore. This gives a polished feeling to the mechanic and makes it more appealing. 

Sound:

The sound system had already been finished for the most part but the sound we were using did not really fit the game or were not really satisfying. We did a lot of searching to find great sounds that would fit the game the best. The most important sound missing was the background music. The one we went with was made by ZitronSound and can be found here :

Dev:

Camera:

A CameraShake was something still missing. When certain actions happen they can be improved by this shake. The shake gives a feeling of power . This is perfect for the cannon for example .

Bugfix:


We did a lot of playtesting this week . This brought forward some new bugs that we had to fix . One example of this is the activation of the interactables . An interactable could be activated with a character while not currently controlling that character. This added a lot of confusion in certain occasions and got removed. We also had cases where we found ways to skip certain parts of a level . We decided that as long as these new ways don't break the game ,they actually improve the replicability as the player can try to find these new paths.

Future:

Our development has ended. We hope you guys like the game we made and like to thank you for following us through this development process.
